CLINTON – A tentative agreement has been signed between Huron County’s health board and the union representing its 26 public health nurses.
The tentative deal was reached yesterday, just one day before members of ONA Local 21 were in a legal strike position.
The health board will hold a special meeting Tuesday, March 5 at 10 a.m. to review and ratify the agreement. If approved, the agreement will be presented at the county council meeting on March 6, 2013.
“This is definitely good news,” said Dr. Nancy Cameron, who is the county’s medical officer of health, in a press release. “We are very pleased to have reached an agreement that works for both sides. For residents of Huron County, it means that their public health services will continue as usual without interruption.���
No details of the tentative contract were released.
The public health nurses have been without a contract since December 31, 2011.
A member of the negotiating team for Local 21 could not be reached today for comment.
