Troupe tests competitive dances on Blyth stage

dancetechniques85Bullet News BLYTH – A sneak preview of the dances local girls will take to competition soon unfolded at Blyth Memorial Hall yesterday.

Under the lights of the main stage, the troupe of 18 girls from Dance Techniques in Clinton danced with graceful precision through a program of more than 20 dances, transitioning from tap to acrobatic dance, from hip hop to jazz. Their costumes were a flurry of bright colours, dazzling sequins and whimsical streamers as they performed to a packed house. After each act, they stood for a critique of their dance, with praise for their strengths balanced against tips for improvement.

Special guests were the Almost Famous Players Group, a dance group of people with developmental challenges, and Dancing with the Stars of Huron County duo Patricia Coulter and Cory Leduc.
