DRIVER DITCHES TRUCK – CHARGED WITH OVER 80

CENTRAL HURON –On Jan. 26, 2013 at approximately 6:15 p.m. Huron OPP officers responded to a single vehicle collision on Base Line at Winthrop Road.

Officers arrived and located a Ford F-150 resting in the west ditch of Base Line. Officers checked on the driver and determined he was uninjured. While speaking with the driver, officers determined the driver had been drinking alcohol. A roadside test was completed which the driver failed.  He was transported back to the Huron OPP detachment where he provided two tests above the legal limit.

A 45-year-old man, from Brantford, has been charged with driving a motor vehicle with over 80 mg of alcohol. He has a court date scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on March 4, 2013.  He received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and the motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.

YOUNG DRIVER CHARGED WITH OVER 80 STEMMING FROM COLLISION

BLUEWATER – On Jan. 26, 2013 at approximately 8:30 a.m. Huron OPP officers responded to a two-vehicle collision that took place on Bluewater Veterans Highway at Centennial Road.

Officers determined a northbound Mazda M5 was following another vehicle that was attempting to turn east onto Centennial Road.  As the lead vehicle slowed to make its turn the trailing Mazda collided with it. Nobody was injured in the collision.  When officers were speaking with the driver of the Mazda, officers determined she had been drinking alcohol. The driver failed a roadside test, was transported to the Huron OPP detachment where she later provided two tests above the legal limit.

As a result, a 17-year-old female from London has been charged with driving a motor vehicle with over 80 mg of alcohol, young driver with a blood alcohol concentration above zero, and following too closely. She has a court appearance scheduled for Youth Justice Court – Goderich on March 8, 2013.  She also received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and the motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.

ROADSIDE TEST RESULTS IN FAIL

GODERICH –A traffic stop on Jan. 25, 2013 just before 4 a.m. resulted in a 41 –year-old female driver losing her driving privileges for an automatic 90 days.

A Huron OPP officer spotted a blue Mazda that was stopped at the intersection of Britannia Road East and Toronto Street.  The driver did not move her vehicle for a few minutes so the officer decided to complete a check on the driver’s sobriety.

Upon speaking with the female driver, the officer detected the driver had been drinking alcohol.  A roadside test was completed and the driver registered a fail.  She later provided two samples of her breath that were both over the legal limit.

As a result, a 41-year-old woman from Palmerston has been charged with driving a motor vehicle with over 80 mg of alcohol.  She has a court appearance scheduled for March 4, 2013 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.  She received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and the motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.

TWO ERRATIC DRIVERS STOPPED AND CHARGED WITH OVER 80

CENTRAL HURON –On Jan. 22, 2013 at approximately 1:30 a.m. Huron OPP officers observed two vehicles travelling erratically eastbound on Huron Road in Goderich.  Officers followed the eastbound Ford Focus and Buick and were able to stop both drivers on Huron Road east of Orchard Line.

Upon speaking with both drivers, officers noted they each had been drinking alcohol.

The driver of the Ford Focus, a 24-year-old man from Stratford, has been charged with driving a motor vehicle with over 80 mg of alcohol.  He has a court appearance scheduled for March 18, 2013 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

The driver of the Buick, a 25-year-old man from Chatham, has been charged with driving a motor vehicle with over 80 mg of alcohol.  He has a court appearance scheduled for March 18, 2013 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Both vehicles were impounded for seven days and both drivers received automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspensions.
