Huron County hires new clerk to start Feb. 19

huroncountyBullet News GODERICH – Huron County has hired a new clerk.

Susan Cronin will start the job Feb. 19.  For the past five years, she has been the clerk of the Municipality of West Perth.

“I am very pleased to welcome Ms. Cronin to Huron County on behalf of myself and Council,” said George Robertson, who is the county’s warden.

Cronin replaces former clerk Barb Wilson, who resigned without notice as clerk on Sept. 5. Clerk tasks were completed by other county staff and its acting CAO, Heather Adams, until it borrowed the clerk from the Municipality of South Huron, Michael DiLullo on a temporary part-time basis.

Oct. 17, council gave Adams the go ahead to hire a new clerk in the hopes of having a permanent employee in place when the new, CAO Brenda Orchard, starts her job Jan. 28. Cronin will start three weeks after the new CAO arrives.

The clerk serves as council secretariat, recording all resolutions, decisions and proceedings of county council. The clerk provides administrative services to council, its committees and departments, and prepares and maintains the bylaws, minutes of meetings and agenda packages for the county.

Cronin has a diploma in business administration management from Conestoga College.
