GODERICH – A new broadcast series will include Goderich in its highlights of architecture from across the country.

Dr. Chris Cooper, of Heritage Places TV, launches the new series about Canadian architecture Jan. 28 on ibroadcast Public Television, ibitv.org, and later on standard broadcast stations in syndication. Cooper previously edited and published Edifice Magazine, which featured a Goderich home in 2008.

The series will include 13 half-hour episodes that highlight unique and wonderful architectural places to visit in Canada. These will include; stone buildings of Eastern Ontario; lighthouses, and bridges such as the West Montrose covered bridge in Woolwich Twp., Ont., and architecture in the Town of Alymer and City of Brampton in Ontario. Three episodes feature Annapolis Royal buildings in Nova Scotia.

In addition to these shorter episodes, the series will broadcast three one-hour feature films about the importance of saving our architectural heritage. Goderich will take centre stage as one of these features with show time tentatively scheduled for spring 2013. Although the tornado and its aftermath will be mentioned, it will not be the focus for this film.

Cooper and his crew spent five days in October and November filming Goderich landmarks, more humble buildings and the vibrant streetscapes. Six local residents were interviewed about their reminiscences about living here. The team will now merge this footage into a high quality presentation showcasing the unique town. DVDs will be available for purchase.

Heritage Places TV will broadcast each Monday starting Jan. 28, 2013 and will be available free on ibroadcast Public Television, ibitv.org, for one week. Each episode will then be replaced by the next in the series. For more details about the series, visit heritageplaces.ca

Currently, ibroadcast Public Television is offering programming on the Classic Television and Old Home Television Channels at ibitv.org. Another series, Rediscovering Canada, which will include Seaforth, will launch in the spring.
