17-year-old rollerblader killed south of Wroxeter

HOWICK – A rollerblader was killed on McIntosh Line south of Wroxeter tonight after being struck by a vehicle.

Just after 8:15 p.m. Huron County OPP officers, Howick fire fighters and Huron County paramedics responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a male who was rollerblading on McIntosh Line approximately 1.5 kilometers south of Howick-Turnberry Road.

Jonas Sherk, 17, of Howick Twp. died at the scene.

Preliminary investigation has revealed the lone male was rollerblading on the southbound travelled portion of the roadway when he was struck by a blue Ford Taurus that was travelling southbound. No charges were laid, police say.

A post-mortem examination will be completed.

Investigators from the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation TTCI team are on scene to assist with the investigation.

McIntosh Line remains closed between Howick-Turnberry Road and Salem Road.  Please use alternate routes to avoid travel delays.
