DRIVER CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED & REFUSAL

HURON EAST  – On Dec. 15, 2012 at 11:35 p.m. Huron OPP officers were notified of a motor vehicle collision involving a possible impaired driver.  Officers arrived at a “T” intersection at Perth Road 180 and Canada Company Road.  A red GMC pickup truck was found approximately 50 metres off the roadway in a field.  Officers spoke with the male driver and observed signs that he was impaired by alcohol.  He also refused to provide a suitable of his breath to determine his blood alcohol concentration (BAC).

A 34-year-old man from West Perth, has been charged with impaired driving and failing to provide a breath sample.  He has a court date scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on Feb. 21, 2013.  He received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and the motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.

OVER THE LEGAL LIMIT

ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH – On Dec. 15, 2012 at approximately 1:45 a.m. a Huron County OPP officer observed a Ford pickup truck travelling northbound on Bluewater Veterans Highway in an erratic manner.  The officer was able to stop the pickup truck on Belgrave Road.  Upon speaking with the driver the officer determined he was impaired by alcohol.

As a result, a 33-year-old man from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh has been charged with impaired Ddriving and driving a motor vehicle with over 80 mg of alcohol.  He has a court appearance scheduled for Jan. 7, 2013 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.  He received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and the motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.

ROADSIDE TEST RESULTS IN FAIL

CENTRAL HURON – A traffic stop on Dec. 12, 2012 shortly after midnight resulted in a 36-year-old male driver losing his licence for an automatic 90 days.  A Huron OPP officer spotted a brown Chevrolet Tahoe travelling northbound on Main Street in Bayfield.  The officer followed the vehicle onto Bayfield River Road where it was stopped.  Upon speaking with the male driver the officer detected the driver had been drinking alcohol.  A roadside test was completed and the driver registered a fail.  He later provided two samples of his breath that were over the legal limit.

As a result, the driver from Central Huron was charged with driving a motor vehicle with over 80 mg of alcohol. He has a court appearance scheduled for Jan. 23, 2013 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.  He received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and the motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
