GODERICH – The rebuild of Goderich’s Court House Park and The Square is right on schedule, according to the Rebuild Oversight Steering Committee.
The last of the road cuts was completed yesterday, which means no more total road closures are expected on The Square until the large trees arrive in late November or December.
“We would like to thank our citizens and business owners for their patience. We’ve tried to limit the inconvenience, and will continue to do so,” said John Grace, who is a Goderich councillor and chair of ROSCO.
He said the town’s operations director was inspecting trees to help re-green the park yesterday and was impressed by what he saw.
ROSCO met for a short time last week to hammer out the upgrades to the power source, which will feed the performance stage. Presently, it only has a 100-amp panel, which just isn’t going to be enough and limit its potential. It’s been recommended in consultation with the experts to install a 200-amp, three-phase pedestal to meet future requirements.
The committee also agreed to proceed with a recommendation put forward to meet the needs of accessibility parking, and the location for those spots. One of the main goals of the design of the new Court House Park and The Square master plan has always been to give all citizens full and safe access throughout the park itself.
The next ROSCO meeting is Tuesday Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. in the Emergency Planning Room at Town Hall.
“We’d like to encourage the public to attend these meetings should they wish to offer feedback, ideas or have concerns relating to the rebuild as it moves ahead,” Grace said.

I do not believe this for one minute.
