HURON EAST – On Sept. 10, 2012, shortly before 1 a.m., a Perth County OPP officer observed an all-terrain vehicle driving around the area of Mt. Pleasant Line and Browntown Road. The officer attempted to stop the ATV, however the ATV driver failed to stop and entered a farm field. Officers were able to hear the machine travelling through the field and watched the ATV exit a nearby field and eventually stop at a residence on Browntown Road.
Officers located and identified the operator of the ATV. He was arrested for failing to stop for police. A driver’s licence check revealed the driver was currently suspended. Further checks on the yellow 2005 Bombardier ATV revealed the machine was stolen from Gravenhurst.
A 45-year-old man from Palmerston is charged with possession of stolen property under $5,000, driving while suspended, and failing to stop for police.
He has a court date scheduled for Oct. 1, 2012 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
