Undiscovered gardens in Huron, Perth will be open for tour July 14

HURON COUNTY – Fifteen sites in two counties will open for a garden tour during Undiscovered Gardens on Saturday, July 14.

Some of the gardens featured are the private gardens of the Purple Rooster near Gorrie, with an eclectic mix of sun and shade, old and new shrubs and perennials, Riverbend Gardens and Nursery features nearly 1,000 varieties of hostas, Karen Redmond’s in Auburn with ornamental grasses that create a double garden, one that can be seen from the street and a hidden one in behind, Kim Burgsma’s Almost Eden, which overlooks the Mailtand River Valley above Saltford, and Brentwood on the Beach at St. Joseph with a wonderful waterfall and stream that leads to the garden sculptures of Frank Moore.

Maps for the tour that takes gardeners through Perth and Huron counties are available at local library, Goderich Tourism office or online.

Organizers hope to expand the tour next year.
