MALE FACING IMPAIRED AND REFUSAL CHARGES
SOUTH HURON – On June 13, 2012 at 11:10 p.m. a Lambton OPP officer on patrol spotted a black Chevrolet SUV parked at the Oakwood Inn located on Bluewater Highway. The vehicle lights were on and the engine was running. Upon speaking with the male driver, the officer determined the male was impaired by alcohol. He was arrested and transported to the Grand Bend OPP detachment where he refused to provide breath samples.
As a result, a 59-year-old from Grand Bend is charged with impaired care and control of his vehicle and refusing to provide a breath sample. He has a scheduled court appearance on July 19 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Exeter. He received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension.
ELECTRICAL WIRE AND 200-AMP PANEL STOLEN
MORRIS-TURNBERRY – Huron OPP officers are investigating a theft and mischief to a residence being built located on Cranbrook Road. Sometime between 8 p.m. on June 13 and 7:30 a.m. on June 14, 2012 two thieves entered the residence and stole the following items:
- Three rolls of white, electrical wire, each roll contains 150 feet
- A new in the box, beige, Cutler-Hammer 200-amp electrical panel
- A red five-gallon plastic gas can
The stolen items are valued at approximately $550. The thieves also caused $300 damage trying to gain access to a work trailer.

THIEVES ATTEMPT TO STEAL ANHYDROUS AMMONIA
MORRIS-TURNBERRY – Huron OPP officers are investigating an early morning attempt by two thieves that tried to steal anhydrous ammonia, which is commercial ammonia, from a farm property located on Browntown Road. At approximately 4:40 a.m. the culprits were spotted near the ammonia tank, when they were spotted by the owner they fled on their ATV’s. The suspects were followed a short distance by the owner however he lost sight of them as they entered Brussels. The thieves were unsuccessful in their attempt to steal ammonia, however they cut a vapour line that will now need to be replaced at a cost of $200.

FLAGS STOLEN IN BRUSSELS
HURON EAST – Huron OPP officers are investigating two separate thefts of flags that occurred in Brussels last weekend. Sometime between Saturday night at 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. on Monday, June 11, 2012, thieves stole a Canadian flag and an Ontario flag from the exterior of the Royal Canadian Legion located on Turnberry Street. The flags are just over 4’ X 2’.
Also in Brussels, a Canadian flag was stolen from the flagpole located at the Brussels Elementary School located on Alexander Street. This flag also measured approximately 4’ X 2’.
