George Hamilton IV is special guest at the 15th annual Barndance Jamboree in Blyth this weekend.

HURON COUNTY – There’s plenty of homegrown activities and entertainment this weekend in Huron County, from the barndance jamboree in Blyth to the farmers’ market in Goderich, a play about a wartime nurse in Bayfield to mud boggin’ in Exeter.

Here is just a sampling to choose from:

Friday

A Woman at War – The Maud Stirling Story, Bayfield

Date, Until Sunday, May 27, with Friday and Saturday performances starting at 8 p.m.; Sunday performance starts at 2 p.m.

Location, Bayfield Town Hall, south side of Clangregor Square.

Bayfield playwright Judith Keightley, tells the story of Maud Stirling’s wartime achievements in a new play. A number of familiar faces will be among the cast. 15th Annual Barndance Jamboree / Campout Weekend, Blyth

Date, Until Sunday, May 27

Location: Blyth Campground/Arena, 377 Gypsy Lane

In this 75th anniversary year of Canada’s largest travelling barn dance, Friday Night @ 7 p.m.: Bluegrass Show & Open Stage; Saturday Afternoon: Open Stage; Saturday @ 8 p.m.: The Barn Dance Stage Show followed by dancing until midnight; Sunday Morning 10 a.m. to noon: Gospel Show. Brussels Farmers’ Market, Brussels

Location: Historic downtown Brussels across from the Post Office and beside the LCBO.

Fresh produce, preserves, jams & jellies, organic meats, perogies, baking, plants, flowers, wood products, live food stations, and much more. Artisans crafts as well. Live entertainment.

Indoor Yard Sale, Clinton

Date: Friday, May 25, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday, May 26 from 8 a.m. to noon.

Location: Clinton United Church, 105 Ontario St.

All sorts of treasures ready for discovery. Coffee and donuts available Saturday morning.

Barbecue Burger Night, Goderich

Date: Friday, May 25, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Annual Community-wide Garage Sale, Brussels

Memories of Elvis, Clinton

BIA Farmers’ Market, Goderich

Location: Downtown Square

Check out the fresh produce, baked goods, plants and crafts at the BIA Farmers’ Market in its new format in downtown Goderich. The space
used will be the periphery of Courthouse Square, encompassing the angle parking spaces and sidewalk promenade, with vending toward the sidewalk and storefronts. The sections of The Square used for the Farmers’ Market will be from South Street corner, around counter clockwise to Hamilton Street.

Hensall’s Village-Wide Yard and Garage Sale, Hensall

Date: Saturday, May 26, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Bargains on every street. Something for everyone. Breakfast at the firehall. Rain or shine.

Music Night, Wingham

Date: Saturday, May 26, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Location: Fireside Café, Hwy. 4, just south of Wingham

Night of music featuring Jeff Ball a local guy who has been blessed to sound like Neil Young. Come out, bring your friends and enjoy a meal and live music. The patio is open for those who want to enjoy the outdoors.

Blyth Festival Singers Annual Cabaret Dinner, Concert and Silent Auction, Varna

Date: Saturday, May 26, from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
