GODERICH On March 4, 2012 at approximately 6:30 p.m. Huron OPP officers located an impaired driver who had earlier struck a parked van on East Street and a recycling bin on Anglesea Street.  Officers were responding to a citizen complaint about the erratic driving.

Officers stopped the driver of a black Pontiac G6 as he was attempting to reverse out of a private driveway on East Street.  Upon speaking with the driver, officers noted he had been drinking alcohol.

A 29-year-old man from Central Huron has been charged with driving with over 80 mg of alcohol in his blood, impaired driving and driving with open liquor in the vehicle. He will answer to the charges in the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on May 7, 2012.  He was issued a 90-day automatic driver’s licence suspension.

DRIVER STOPPED AT R.I.D.E CHECK

ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH On March 1, 2012 at approximately 10:30 p.m. Huron OPP officers stopped a red Toyota Tacoma pickup truck that entered a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) checkpoint located at the intersection of Bluewater Highway and Saltford Road.

Upon speaking with the male driver, officers noted he had been consuming alcohol.

A 32-year-old from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh has been charged with driving with over 80 mg of alcohol in his blood. He has a scheduled court appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on April 30, 2012.  He was issued a 90-day automatic driver’s licence suspension.

MISCHIEF TO EXCAVATOR

BLUEWATER Huron OPP officers are investigating the vandalism of a yellow Komastu excavator that was parked in a field on Parr Line near Rodgerville Road.

The excavator was heavily damaged with all the windows being smashed; the foot pedals and monitors were also destroyed.  The damage to the machine is believed to be in excess of $10, 000.

Investigators believe the damage occurred sometime between Feb. 25, 2012 and March 1, 2012.
