Witches Walk a night of frights in Blyth

Bullet News BLYTH – It was a night of frightful delights at the annual Witches Walk in Blyth.

The lineup was established long before the walk began at dusk. Parents pushed toddlers in strollers. Children wore toques and carried flashlights. They wore glowing necklaces and bracelets. A black and white horror flick kept them entertained before they entered the trail.

While they waited in line, mummies, witches and other horrifying characters walked past to take their places along the route.

They were led by witches along the trail, stepping carefully in anticipation of a unexpected fright. From time to time, a blood-curdling scream cut through the dark. Occasionally, the scares were too much for a youngster.

The walk is organized by the Blyth Community Greenway Group that maintains the trail along the abandoned CPR rail line next to the Blyth Brook in Blyth. Each year, it draws hundreds of children.
