B. T. Clarke sold his ’67 AMC Rambler Rebel long ago, but the memory lives on.
In fact, the Exeter resident has such fond memories of the vehicle he reluctantly sold at the start of the oil crisis in 1972 that he was prompted to send a hand-written letter to Bill Sherk, author of the The Old Car Detective syndicated column.
“It came all white with a red interior. I used a red crayon on the picture in the sales brochure, liked what I saw, and paid $125 to have the lower half of the car painted red,” said Clarke, who worked at the American Motors plant in Brampton at the time.
