Two injured in truck, buggy collision

oppplogoASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH – Two people were sent to hospital after a pickup truck hit a horse drawn buggy on Lucknow Line last night.

Just after 11 p.m., emergency service personnel responded to the collision on Lucknow Line between Belfast Road and Belgrave Road. A horse drawn buggy with extensive damage was on the roadway and a silver Dodge pickup truck in the west ditch, Huron County OPP report.

An 18-year-old male driver from West Perth was travelling southbound on Lucknow Line in poor weather when he collided with the horse drawn carriage that was also travelling southbound on Lucknow Line.

Two of the three occupants in the horse drawn buggy sustained injuries. A 17-year-old male from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh was transported to London Health Sciences Centre with non-life threatening injuries and a 17-year-old male from Huron-Kinloss was transported to Alexandra & Marine General Hospital in Goderich with minor injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck was uninjured.

Huron County OPP officers, Huron County paramedics and Lucknow firefighters were on the scene.

GENERATOR STOLEN FROM DASHWOOD BACKYARD

SOUTH HURON – Huron OPP officers are investigating the theft of a yellow Champion brand 4,000-watt generator from Dashwood last week.

The generator was stolen from the backyard of a Centre Street property.  Police believe the theft took place sometime between noon on Jan. 31, 2013 and 8 a.m. on February 1, 2013.  The generator is valued at $700.
