HURON COUNTY – Two homegrown holiday plays will premiere in Huron County this weekend. In Blyth, artistic director Peter Smith puts a new spin on the classic, A Christmas Carol. In Goderich, storytellers Warren and Eleanor Robinson spin a Christmas tale with the help of Goderich Little Theatre and illusionist Neil MacMillan.

Friday
A Country Carol, Blyth
Date: Friday, Dec. 7 at 8 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Location: Blyth Memorial Hall
Description: A Country Carol by Peter Smith and featuring the community, adapted from the Charles Dickens’ classic. All of the familiar characters from A Christmas Carol are here in Blyth, for an epic re-imagining of Dickens’ classic. Tickets are $15 (adults) and $8 (students & children).

Clinton Santa Claus Parade, Clinton
Date: Friday, Dec. 7, starting at 7 p.m., immediately following the Lighting of the Trees at the Library Park.
Location: Main Streets
Description: Christmas Parade of Lights, presented by Clinton Kinsmen and Kinettes, takes place on main streets of town. Theme: The Heart of the Holidays.
Mistletoe and Magic, Goderich
Date: Dec. 7, 8, 13, 14 and 15 at 8 p.m. and Dec. 9 and 16 at 2 p.m.
Location: The Livery, 35 South St.
Description: Set in 1908 Goderich at the historical Victoria Playhouse, a world of mystery, music and magic dazzles a young girl as the Christmas Season draws near. This young girl’s is quick to learn that the illusion of the stage, is just that: an illusion. Deception and suspense paired with laughter and memorable music will have the audience journeying back in time with the cast. Illusionist Neil MacMillan will be featured on the Goderich Little Theatre’s stage for this production. Tickets: $20 adults; $18 seniors; $15 youth; and $10 children. Christmas at the Museum, Wingham
Date: Friday, Dec. 7, until 9 p.m.
Location: North Huron Museum, 273 Josephine St.
Description: Admission by donation. Tours of the decorated museum. Christmas crafts for the kids and hot cider and yummy cookies. A delightful Christmas adventure for the whole family. Presented by Friends of the North Huron Museum.
Saturday
Breakfast with Santa
Date: Saturday, Dec. 7, from 8 a.m. to noon
Location: Seaforth Community Centre, 122 Duke St.
Description: Seaforth Optimist Breakfast with Santa. There will a silent auction, and Travel The World Tickets will be available. Cost is $7 per person, $20 per family.
Kintail School Flea Market, Kintail
Date: Saturday, Dec. 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Location: Hwy. 21 north of Kintail on west side of road
Description: Browse through a vast array of treasures in the unique setting of former school SS#3 Ashfield. Enjoy a taste of good country-style cooking in the kitchen.

Sing-A-Long Messiah, Clinton
Date: Sunday, Dec. 9, starting at 3 p.m.
Location: Clinton United Church, 105 Ontario St.
Description: Listen to the music, and also sing to the well-known choruses when thatotherchoir presents Sing-A-Long Messiah and other Christmas music.The concert will feature the 20-voice choir under the direction of Louise Dockstader of Goderich, with musical accompaniment by the Blyth Festival Orchestra and, Sharon Johnston of Goderich playing harpsichord. Museum Holiday Open House, Goderich
Date: Sunday, Dec. 9, from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Location: Huron County Museum, 110 North St.
Description: Free admission to come enjoy the museum, which has been decorated for the season. Crafts for children and sweet treats for all. Join in our Community Carol Sing at 1 p.m. led by Sharon and Katy Johnston. Sing your favourite Christmas carols accompanied by live musicians in the Museum’s History Hall.
