HURON COUNTY – The annual tradition of bazaars and craft sales leading up to the Christmas season sets into full swing in Huron County this weekend, with events hosted by churches and school groups.

Here’s a sampling of events:

Friday

Sean Hogan at Cinnamon Jim’s – Upper Deck, Brussels

Date: Friday, Nov. 2, starting at 8:30 p.m.

Location: Cinnamon Jim’s – Upper Deck

Description: CCMA nomine Sean Hogan brings his alternate-country and modern rustic pop to this Brussels venue. Advance tickets, $15; at the door, $20.

Yellow Bird and the Open Cages, Goderich

Date: Friday, Nov. 2, starting at 8 p.m.

Location: East Street Station, 1 Maitland Rd. N.

Description: Help celebrate the release of Yellowbird and the Open Cages’ first album. Melina Powers, a Huron County native who now calls Stratford home, has been singing on stages across Canada for many years as a member of the bands Silence and State of Blake, along with her four brothers. Along with husband/producer/instrumentalist, John Powers, and guest musicians, including drummer Jesse Baird (Feist), Yellowbird and the Open Cages are releasing their first self-titled album. Tickets are $15 in advance or $18 at the door and are now available at East Street Station or online. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., show starts at 8 p.m.

Owl Prowl, Exeter

Date: Friday, Nov. 2 and Saturday, Nov. 3, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Location: Morrison Dam Conservation Area, 71108 Morrison Line

Description: Here’s a chance to hear an interactive presentation about owls and to take part in a night-hike owl ‘hoot.’ People are invited to ‘lug-a-mug’ to the event and enjoy hot chocolate and a campfire.

Saturday

Bayfield Optimist Club’s Homes for the Holiday Tour, Bayfield

Date: Saturday, Nov. 3, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 4, from noon to 4 p.m.

Location: Various

Description: Tour five homes decorated by area businesses; includes light lunch. Proceeds support the Making A Splash Campaign and youth projects. Tickets, $20, available by calling the Bayfield Village Inn at 519-565-2443 or in Clinton at Curves, in Bayfield at Brandon’s Hardware, in Goderich at Homescapes by Lynn, or in Grand Bend at The Garden Gate.

Ranch Rodeo and Dance Party, Clinton

Date: Saturday, Nov. 3, with rodeo starting at 7 p.m., and dance from 9 p.m. to 1 p.m.

Location: REACH Huron, 169 Beech St.

Description: IPRA sanctioned timed event. Full of excitement with steer wrestling, barrel racing, steer wrestling and, the crowd pleaser, wild cow milking. Food concessions and licensed bar. Dance is age of majority. Tickets, $15 for the rodeo and $10 for the dance, are available at REACH Huron, Miller’s Country Store in Exeter and Clinton Convenience.

Annual Christmas Bazaar, Goderich

Date: Saturday, Nov. 3, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Location: Berea-By-The-Water Church, 326 Gibbons St.

Description: Christmas bazaar, $8 luncheon, bake and yard sale.

A Country Christmas Craft Show, Goderich

Date: Saturday, Nov. 3, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Location: GDCI, 260 South St.

Description: More than 80 vendors from across Ontario Admission: $2. Café and day care. Sponsored by Ontario Students Against Impaired Driving.

Huron Tract Spinners & Weavers Guild Exhibition & Sale, Goderich

Date: Saturday, Nov. 3, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday, Nov. 4, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Location: Huron County Museum, 110 North St.

The Huron Tract Spinners & Weavers Guild holds its annual exhibition and sale. Free admission.

Holly Berry Bazaar and Lunch, Goderich

Date: Saturday, Nov. 3, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Location: St. George’s Anglican Church – Parish Hall, 87 North St. (Nelson Street entrance.)

Description: Bake shop, gourmet shop, raffle table, craft table. Free admission. Lunch: $10.

Spay-ghetti Dinner and Silent Auction, Goderich

Date: Saturday, Nov. 3, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Location: Knights of Columbus Hall, 390 Parsons Court

Description: There will be a prize for the individual who best accessorizes with animal print. All proceeds will be used to help the homeless, unwanted, abused and neglected animals within Huron County. Tickets, $16 adults, $7 children, free under 5 years, still available online at huroncounty.ontariospca.ca or at: Huron SPCA, 48 East Street, Goderich; Clinton Veterinary Services, Clinton; and Pet-Valu, Goderich.

“Dream On” Musical Presentation, Goderich

Date: Saturday, Nov. 3, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Location: Knox Presbyterian Church – MacMillan Hall, 9 Victoria St. N.

Description: Come hear Press B, a youth group from Glenbrook Presbyterian Church in Mississauga. They will tell the story of Daniel using music from the ‘60s to the ‘90s. Cost: A freewill offering will be received in support of Camp Kintail and Press B.

Kintail School Flea Market, Kintail

Date: Saturday, Nov. 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Location: Hwy. 21 north of Kintail on west side of road

Description: Browse through a vast array of treasures in the unique setting of former school SS#3 Ashfield. Enjoy a taste of good country-style cooking in the kitchen.

Wingham Friends of the Library Annual Book Sale, Wingham

Date: Saturday, Nov. 3, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 4 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Location: 281 Edward St.

Drop by to pick up a book in support of Friends of the Librarya.

SUNDAY

We Will Remember Them, Goderich

Date: Sunday, Nov. 4, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Location: St. George’s Anglican Church, 87 North St.

Description: The Goderich Harbouraires Men’s Choir presents a concert of Remembrance Day songs and readings. Free admission. Please wear a poppy.
