Catch the Canadian All-Breed Herding Championship at REACH Huron in Clinton this weekend. Free admission.

HURON COUNTY – The zombies, ghosts and goblins have made their way to Huron County, with appearances in Hensall, Wingham and Seaforth this weekend.

Here’s a sampling of events:

Friday

Hensall Haunt, Hensall

Date: Friday, Oct. 26, starts at 6 p.m., and Saturday, Oct. 27, start at 5 p.m.

Location: Starts at Hensall Arena, with Zombie March down King Street.

All zombies are invited to meet at the arena a half-hour before start time of the Zombie March (6 p.m. Friday, 5 p.m. Saturday), with a non-perishable food item for the food drive. Visit the very scary Hensall Haunt & Enchanted Forest, which requires signature of a waiver before entry. Admission: $10 adults; $7 youth; $25 for family of two adults, two youths. Children under 16 must be accompanied by adult. Little ones will enjoy the Lil Haunt, with appropriate age determined by parents. Admission: $5. Face-painting, bobbing for apples, colouring contest and more.

Saturday

Confessions of a Fairy’s Daughter, Bayfield

Date: Saturday, Oct. 27, starting at 8 p.m.

Location: Bayfield Town Hall

Description: Monologue by comic Alison Wearing, based on her life growing up with a gay father. Question and answer period to follow. Tickets, $25, available from Pat McDougall, 519 565-2572, or Jane Rowat, 519 565-5838. Proceeds to greenery for the town hall and surroundings.

Huron County Museum & Gaol Strategic Plan Public Meeting, Blyth

Date: Saturday, Oct. 27, from noon to 4 p.m.

Location: Bainton Gallery, Blyth Memorial Hall, 431 Queen Street

Description: The purpose of this drop-in meeting is to receive feedback and input in the development of a new strategic plan. Drop in at any point in the afternoon to speak with the consultants currently working on the project or Museum staff. Family friendly activities and refreshments.

Canadian All-Breed Herding Championship, Clinton

Date: Saturday, Oct. 27 and Sunday, Oct. 28, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily

Location: REACH Huron, 169 Beech St.

Description: People come from all over the world to watch the best herding dogs in the CKC program compete in this herding trial championship. Dogs must qualify in order to compete. Free admission.

The Fall Harvest Luncheon, Goderich

Date: Saturday, Oct. 27, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Location: St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Parish Hall, 156 North St.

Description: The Catholic Women’s League presents a luncheon, penny sale, homed-baked goods, preserves and silent auction. Tickets for luncheon: $8.

Praisefest 2012, Goderich

Date: Saturday, Oct. 27, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Location: North Street United Church (The United Churches of Goderich & Area), 56 North St.

Description:  Local interdenominational choirs, praise & worship teams with special guest Mike Bannerman & The Stratford Praise Team. Admission: Non-perishable item for the local food bank & freewill offering for the Huron County Food Distribution Centre. Easel artists welcome to work during Praisefest.

Kintail School Flea Market, Kintail

Date: Saturday, Oct. 27, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Location: Hwy. 21 north of Kintail on west side of road

Description: Browse through a vast array of treasures in the unique setting of former school SS#3 Ashfield. Enjoy a taste of good country-style cooking in the kitchen.

Halloween Party, Wingham

Date: Saturday, Oct. 27, from 8 p.m. to midnight

Location: Royal Canadian Legion Branch 180, 183 Victoria St. W.

Description: Music by Lindsey Morgan. Costumes welcome.

SUNDAY

Seaforth Optimist Free Kids’ Halloween / Skating Party, Seaforth

Date: Sunday, Oct. 28, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Location: Seaforth & District Community Centre

Description: There will be prizes for the best costumes, treat bags, and snacks. Everyone welcome.
