HURON COUNTY – From boxing to dining, blessing to racing, there’s quite a varied selection of things to do around Huron County this weekend.

Here’s a list of markets and a sampling of events to take part in across the county this weekend:

Saturday

Turkey Dinner, Camp Menesetung

Date: Saturday, Sept. 29, from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Location, Camp Menesetung, 82190 Church Camp Road

Description: Help Camp Menesetung climb to their fund-raising goal. Enjoy a turkey dinner with all the trimmings. Tickets: Adults, $13 in advanced or $14 at the door; Children, $6 ages 5-10, under 5 free. For tickets, call Laura at 519-524-5163 or 519-524-6497.

BIA Farmers’ Market, Goderich

Date: Saturday, Sept. 29, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Location: Downtown Square

Description: Check out the fresh produce, baked goods, plants and crafts at the BIA Farmers’ Market in its new format in downtown Goderich. The space
used will be the periphery of Courthouse Square, encompassing the angle parking spaces and sidewalk promenade, with vending toward the sidewalk and storefronts. The sections of The Square used for the Farmers’ Market will be from South Street corner, around counter clockwise to Hamilton Street.

United Communities Credit Union Family Fun Day, Goderich

Date: Saturday, Sept. 29, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Location: United Communities Credit Union, 74 Kingston St.

Description: Opening celebration will include food, refreshments, giveaways and free trees.

September Slugfest, Goderich

Date: Saturday, Sept. 29. Doors open at 1 p.m. First fight starts at 2 p.m., through to 6 p.m.

Location: Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 109, 56 Kingston St.

Description: Lakeview Boxing Club presents an afternoon of live amateur boxing, sanctioned by OBA. Featuring The Biggest Loser Winner Chris “Thunder” Johnson. Tickets: $10 in advance; $15 at the door.

Exploring Goderich for Ethiopia Fundraiser, Goderich

Date: Saturday, Sept. 29, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Location: St. George’s Anglican Church, 87 North St.

Description: Katie Schneider and Broden Forster-Gill, who were born in Ethiopia and adopted by local Goderich families, are starting an annual fund-raising effort to enhance the lives of Ethiopians. This year the fund-raising effort is to support reforestation. 100% of donations go to support reforestation in Ethiopia. Scavenger hunt from 3p.m to 4:30 p.m. Family dinner at 5:30 p.m. Entertainment, prizes and more.

Howick Farmers Market, Howick

Date: Saturday, Sept. 29, from 9 a.m. to noon

Location: Howick Community Centre

Description: Unique variety of locally made and locally produced products.

Kintail School Flea Market, Kintail

Date: Saturday, Sept. 29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Location: Hwy. 21 north of Kintail on west side of road

Description: Browse through a vast array of treasures in the unique setting of former school SS#3 Ashfield. Enjoy a taste of good country-style cooking in the kitchen.

Sunday

Bayfield Flea Market, Bayfield

Date: Sunday, Sept. 30, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Location: Agricultural Park behind arena

Description: Vendors include antique dealers, arts and crafts, farm produce and more.

Clinton Raceway Closing, Clinton

Date, Sunday, Sept. 30, starting at 1:30 p.m.

Location: Clinton Raceway, Beech St.

Description: Twelve races on the card in this closing day of the 2012 season will honour horse people who have made lasting contributions to harness racing. Tickets, $10, are still available for the barbecue chicken dinner following the races.

Flea Market, Goderich

Date: Sunday, Sept. 30 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Location: Downtown Square

The Blessing of the Animals, Goderich

Date: Sunday, Sept. 30, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Location: St. George’s Anglican Church (lawn on North Street), 87 North St.

Description: A unique service for all living creatures. Everyone welcome. Bring your animals. Rain or shine because the rain never stopped Noah.
