Four-year-old ejected from vehicle in Goderich accident

GODERICH – A four-year-old girl who was ejected from a vehicle during an early evening crash at the corners of Victoria and Britannia streets in Goderich yesterday was treated at London Health Sciences Centre and released, Huron County OPP say.

The youngster was a passenger in a Dodge Durango that was turning onto Victoria Street from Britannia Street when the accident occurred, according to a preliminary report from police. The girl’s mother took her to Alexandra Marine and General Hospital.

Another passenger in the vehicle, an eight-year-old female, was treated and released from the hospital.

Police were on the scene for about 2.5 hours.

It is expected charges will be laid.

Police have released no further details at this time.

DRIVER CHARGED AT RIDE PROGRAM

BLUEWATER – A RIDE checkpoint set up at Kippen Road and Airport Line resulted in a driver losing his driver’s licence for an automatic 90 days.

Just after 3 a.m. on July 29, 2012, the driver of a Buick LeSabre entered the checkpoint and after the officer spoke with the driver, the officer detected the driver had been drinking alcohol.

A 22-year-old man from Goderich has been charged with driving a motor vehicle with over 80 milligrams of alcohol.  His court date is scheduled for Sept.10, 2012 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.  He received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and the motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.

SPEEDER CHARGED WITH OVER 80

ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH On July 26, 2012 at 3:22 p.m. a Huron OPP officer spotted a Chevrolet Equinox speeding along Amberley Road near Donnybrook Line.  The officer stopped the male driver for speeding and upon speaking with him, the officer noted the driver had been drinking alcohol.

A 32-year-old man from Morris-Turnberry has been charged with driving a motor vehicle with over 80 milligrams of alcohol.  His court date is scheduled for Sept. 10, 2012 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.  He received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and the motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.

SPEEDING DRIVING LOSES LICENCE FOR 30 DAYS

SOUTH HURON On July 29, 2012 just after 7:30 a.m. a Huron County OPP officer stopped a black Ford F-150 pickup truck on Parr Line south of Dashwood.  The officer stopped the driver and noted the male driver had been drinking alcohol.  A 24-year-old male driver from North Middlesex was issued a 30-day driver’s licence suspension following a “warn” test result at the roadside. The penalties for warn range suspensions escalate from three days for the first time, seven-day suspension for the second time to a 30-day suspension for the third time.

    They didn’t give out many details at all about that crash. 4-year-olds in car seats with seat buckles done up don’t just eject. Life is too precious. Follow the rules.
