Wal-Mart chips in $5,000 to United Way campaign

Wal-Mart Canada once again helped meet the needs of Goderich and area residents by supporting United Way of Perth Huron’s annual campaign. When the campaign lagged behind earlier this year, Wal-Mart stepped up to the plate to be part of ensuring needed services from 22 agencies are available in Perth and Huron communities. Goderich and area was hit with a devastating tornado Aug. 21, 2011 and since that time United Way agencies have been working to serve the needs of people. With Wal-Mart’s generous donation of $5,000 and its commitment to helping families in need, United Way was able to reach campaign goal of $1,052,011. On hand for the recent cheque presentation were: Elaine Osborne, executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters North Huron, which is a local agency that receives support; Ryan Erb, who is executive director of United Way of Perth Huron, and; Michael Tapping, who is manager of Wal-Mart’s Goderich store.
