Goderich’s downtown park changes daily

GODERICH – The grey wire fence that penned in Goderich’s downtown park is gone, and more trees are arriving to meet a pre-Christmas planting deadline.

Trees as large as 16 inches in diameter are expected to arrive in the next few days, with nearly 160 to be put in the ground by PAO Horticulture to replace those lost in tornado. Follow the planting on PAO Horticulture’s website.

The streetlights are connected and the entire park should be lit later this week.

Construction of the sidewalks and some of the major features inside the park will begin again in March.

“Every day is a new day on The Square as it’s ever-changing with the trees being planted,” said John Grace, who is the town’s deputy mayor and chair of the Goderich Rebuild Oversight Committee (ROSCO.)

The next scheduled ROSCO meeting is Wednesday, Dec. 19at 7 p.m. in Goderich council chambers.
