Hensall Fair a community tradition

Bullet News HENSALL – The ball hit its mark with a “thunk” and a child squealed as a bucket of water splashed on her head, at one of the most popular games at the 144th Hensall Fair this past weekend.

Children jostled each other for the chance to sit in the water-soaked chair while friends exchanged coin for three balls to lob at the target. When the ball didn’t hit its mark, they simply ran forward and pressed the button with small fists, releasing a downpour of water. Children and celebrity adults walked through the fair with soaked shirts and pants, all to raise funds for community projects.

The fair grounds were busy Saturday afternoon, with a miniature horse show, children’s games, OPP bike rodeo and sheep display set up on the grounds outside the arena complex. Inside, displays of photography, colouring and crafts lined tables, while the mini-tractor pull got under way.
