PROCEEDS FROM CHURCH LUNCHEON STOLEN

(GODERICH, ON)  Huron County OPP is investigating a theft from a church located on Gibbons Street, Goderich.  At approximately 12:00 p.m. on November 12, 2011 police were called to the church regarding the theft.  Investigators learned the church was holding a luncheon and yard sale when the theft took place.

Members from the church reported a thief stole a small, black, metal cash box from the admission table and took off running from the church heading north on Gibbons Street.  Church volunteers gave chase of the male however he was not located.

The suspect is described as a white male in his early 20’s, approximately 5’ 8”, with a slight build between 140lbs to 150lbs, dark moustache, and wearing a green “Green Bay Packers” hoody.

An unspecified quantity of cash was stolen.

POSSESSION OF STOLEN MOTORCYCLE

(MORRIS-TURNBERRY, ON)  On Sunday, November 13, 2011 at approximately 9:45 p.m., a Huron County OPP officer stopped a motorcycle on Harriston Road east of Wroxeter.  A check on the vehicle identification number revealed the 2003 Suzuki Katana had been reported stolen from Wellington County.

During the investigation the driver provided a false name to the officer.  With the assistance of Wingham Police Service the driver’s real name was determined.  A check on his driver’s licence status determined he was also a prohibited driver.

As a result, a 22-year-old man from Morris-Turnberry has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada, Operation while Disqualified contrary to section 259(4)(a) Criminal Code of Canada and Public Mischief contrary to section 140(1)(b) Criminal Code of Canada.

He will have to attend Ontario Court of Justice – Wingham on January 19, 2012 to answer to the charges. LP11322591

 IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGE

(NORTH HURON, ON)  At approximately 3:15 a.m. on November 13, 2011 a Huron County OPP officer received a complaint from a concerned citizen of a possible impaired driver.  The officer located the suspect vehicle on Queen Street, North Huron. The officer determined the driver had consumed alcohol and her ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired.  She was subsequently arrested and transported to meet with a qualified Intoxilizer Technician in order to provide two samples of her breath.

The results of the two tests confirmed the driver had a blood alcohol level that was above the legal limit of 80 milligrams of alcohol.

As a result of the investigation, a 42-year-old woman from Central Huron has been charged with one count of Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to section 253(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada and one count of Drive With Over 80 Milligrams contrary to section 253(1)(b) Criminal Code of Canada.  She will answer to her charges in the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on January 9, 2012.  Her driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days as per statute.  LP11321905

THEFT FROM CONSTRUCTION SITE

(BLUEWATER, ON)  Huron County OPP is investigating an overnight theft of power tools that took place between 6:00 p.m. on November 10, 2011 and approximately 5:00 a.m. on November 11, 2011.  The tools were stolen from a construction site located on David Street, Bluewater.

A black and yellow Dewalt air compressor and a blue Mastercraft air nailer were stolen.  The victim estimates the value of the items to be worth $800.
