Safe Harbour Run supports women’s shelter

Bullet News BAYFIELD – Adam Cornwall, a 19-year-old runner from St. Marys, was the first to cross the finish line in the Safe Harbour Run in Bayfield this past Sunday, with a time of 16:24.

Four hundred and one runners followed a route from Clan Gregor Square, through the village’s residential area, up the retail main street, and back to Clan Gregor Square on a warm morning with the mercury at 24 degrees Celsius and a smog advisory in effect.

Runners came from points across the province, including Toronto, St. Thomas and Woodstock to compete in the annual race, which is part of the Runners’ Choice Runpiker Series of seven runs. The event was preceded by a 2-km fun run, with top runner MacKenzie Berard, 13, of Bayfield finishing in 7:50. There was also a dash of a few hundred metres for youngsters.
